a rabbit and a turtle were to start a race at the same place. the rabbit was asleep when the turtle started. he slept for seven hours before he started the race. the rabbits average rate when he was awake was 5km/hr. the turtle never stopped for a break, but his pace was only 1/km/hr. how long will the rabbit run before it catches the turtle?

Do you think you know the answer? I can't give direct answers...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure how to set it up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I am not that good at math, but I can probably help you... So bare with me :P

Alright we know that the rabbit slept for 7 hours and the turtle runs 1 KM/HR. so the turtle got how far before the rabbit woke up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 km?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(sorry my computer was being slow)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok! so the rabbit would have to run a little over an hour to catch up. do you know how id figure out the exact number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he hasn't, he was asleep.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
