Systems of equations help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She has devised an equation to solve for which day (x) the lizard would be able to eat the entire population. The equation is 3x = 5x - 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The lizard cannot eat more than 7 in a day, though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i solve using a system of equations and what restraints would i have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3^x=5x-1 is the correct equation, oops

OpenStudy (legends):

Its 2 plug 2 into x and youll see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i have to explain it all and write it all out, so it would take 2 days for the lizard to eat the fly population? But the lizard can only eat 7 flies a day

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"A biologist is comparing the growth of a population of flies per week to the number of flies a lizard will consume per week. She has devised an equation to solve for which day (x) the lizard would be able to eat the entire population. The equation is 3x = 5x - 1. However, she has observed that the lizard cannot eat more than seven flies in one week. Explain to the biologist how she can solve this on a graph using a system of equations. Identify any possible constraints to the situation."

OpenStudy (legends):

Well 2 is x thats all I know. Sorry I don't know the rest:(

OpenStudy (legends):

Sorry x is 2

okay, thank you for the help
