Set up a proportion. 40/2 and x/5
Cross multiply to get: 2x = 200
x = 100

ok you can read 40 pages in 2 hour. divide the number of pages by the number of hours. you get
40 / 2 = 20
so now you know you can read 20 pages per hour. they asked you how many in 5 hour. no problem. just do times 5.
5 * 20 = 100
