For the data set {91, 87, 13, 98, 91}, which measures of center best describe the data? Choose all answers that are correct. A. mean B. median C. mode
do you know what each of those answer choices means?
I think so. @mehek14
ok then tell me the definitions of each
@Mehek14 1. mean- All of the numbers added up then the sum divided by the total amount of numbers given.(After you list them in order from greatest to least.) 2. median-the number in the middle of the group of numbers.(After you list them in order from greatest to least.) 3.mode- the number you see the most in a group of numbers.(After you list them in order from greatest to least.) Is that correct because I get them mixed up a lot?
yes that is correct
ok so now what do you think the answer is
@Mehek14 I think that it is B. because even though it says choose all answers that are correct it also says, "which measures of CENTER best describe the data?" And median means the number in the middle of the group of numbers after you list them in order from least to greatest. (Sorry when I told you the definitions of all of them I accidentally put greatest to least.)
Is that right? @Mehek14
Is there any number that is repeated?
Yes. 91.
So, it would be B. and C.?
i'm not sure about B
The numbers in order are 13,87,91,91,98. So you have a median which is 91 and a mode which is also 91.
yes so go with B too
Okay.
Can I have a medal?
Thank you!
ya thanks
