Hey You guys! Could you please help me with this? I need a walk-through please. (I will draw the triangle) Find the value of x. Round to the nearest tenth. The diagram is not drawn to scale.
|dw:1424299795676:dw|
SOH CAH TOA sin(x) = opposite/hypotenuse cos(x) = adjacent/hypotenuse sin(x) = opposite/adjacent x = angle Rules for solving for x arcsin(sin(x)) = x arccos(cos(x)) = x arctan(tan(x)) = x http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigonometry look at diagram of triangle and read caption
|dw:1424300237587:dw|
adjacent and opposites location is dependent on the angle you use in the triangle
i have to go, so could you please try and hurry?
for example: |dw:1424300423836:dw|
If we had angle A = 30 degrees b = 10degrees and we wanted to solve for a notice |dw:1424300506649:dw| so, SOH CAH TOA we have adjacent and we are solving for opposite so use tan(x) tan(x) = OPPOSITE
@Australopithecus
wow I just lost all my work.
Ok so imagine we have angle A = 30 degrees b = 20 and we want to solve for a notice since we have angle A we use: |dw:1424300640332:dw| we want to solve hyp and we have adj so remember SOH CAH TOA we use cos(x) = adjacent/hypotenuse cos(A) = b/a so, cos(30) = 20/a cos(30)a = 20 a = cos(30)/20 plug into your calculator (make sure it is set to deg and not rad) and you will have an answer
