you want to find the hypotenuse of the triangle which is teh string. we know the length opposite of a known angle, using SOH CAH TOA which is a mneumonic device for sin(x) = opposite edge / hypotenuse cos(x) = adjacent / hypt and tan(x) = opp/adjacent
