Is it okay to use second hand accounts in an argumentative essay?
Like saying "my mom observed that blah blah blah".

Hm..it depends on how it's used. If you cite a valuable source then yes, but I don't know if your mom qualifies as a valuable source. XD
lol that was one example here is another- The public is not the only ones effected by snow drift. Transport companies, like my father is in, must operate large trucks through the black ice and snow filled roads. This hinders them and puts lives at stake. He travels long distances in these trucks and sees the effects of having snow fences first hand. He would agree that keeping drift off of the street is an important task.
