What is parallel-distributed memory?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, people basically have three different systems of memory. 1. Sensory memory 2. Short term memory 3. Long term memory Some psychologists believe that new memories are formed in that order. We start with sensory memory, then it might become short term memory, and after that, it can become long term memory. In that order. But the "parallel distribution theory" says that new memories are stored in all three memory systems AT THE SAME TIME, and in no particular order.
