the formula for the area of a square = Length * width, The formula for the area of a circle = pi*r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the area of the square?

How do you find the radius?

the circle is fully inside the square, meaning the diameter of the circle is 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

raidus and diamater are related by the following: 2*radius = Diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area of square is 8x8=64. The radius is half of the length of the diameter which is 8 so the radius = 4. Therefore the area of the circle is pi(4)^2= 16pi. Then subtract the area of the circle from the area of the square so ---> 64-16pi is the answer.

Thank you that's the answer I got when I did the work!
