I need help with spanish! :( My grade is depending on this...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cuantos anos tiene? -Tiene 16 anos<-- What I think -Tienen 16 anos -Tengo 16 anos -Tienes 16 anos Why is the Plaza de Armas in Cuzco SIgnificant? -It was destroyed in the 17th century and later rebuilt -It is known for its artists studios and workshops. - It is the central square of Machu Picchu -It is where the Spanish proclaimed their conquest of the incan empire.

Not very good in spanish but still about the first question Cuantos anos tiene? (how old are you) -tengo 16 anos (iam 16 years old)

OpenStudy (inowalst):

@AmtalArzoe You are wrong. Cuantos anos tiene? - How old are they? Tiene 16 anos - They are 16 years old. (singular) Tienen 16 anos - They are 16 years old. (plural) Tengo 16 anos - I am 16 years old. Tienes 16 anos - You are 16 years old. However in Spanish, saying "tengo" can mean both, I have and I am. If you were to say, "Yo tengo 16 anos" it would translate to "I have 16 years." So be careful with the word "tengo" 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cusco

OpenStudy (inowalst):

Yes. Look at the form of "tiene" in the question and in the answer and of course! Just please close this one and post one question per post. ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay sounds good Ill tag you in the next question Thank You !!

OpenStudy (inowalst):

No problem.

@inowalst You should take your own advice about not providing an answer if you aren't sure. "Tiene" is the verb inifitive tener agreeing with the subjects El(he)/Ella(She)/usted(you-formal) --- also can be referring to it but always singular. Now "Tienen" is Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes and again if the verb is an "it" but plural this would apply so it means "they" or "you all". "Tiene" though never means "they" as you suggest. So cuantos anos tiene? can be asking how old he/she/you formal/or it .. is. Here is a source to a simple verb conjugation of the infinitive tener so you know I'm not just guessing like apparently everyone else lol. http://www.spanishdict.com/conjugate/tener

OpenStudy (samslays):

For people looking at this in the future, what @iknowalst is saying is not correct. The meaning of 'Cuantos anos tiene?' is 'How old are you?', not 'How old are they?'. This is according to spanishdict.com (Link below) and to Google Translate( second link) http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/Cuantos%20anos%20tiene https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wT#auto/en/Cuantos%20anos%20tiene
