I want to write a book about teenage life but I don't know where to start.

Well it depends when u say teenage life there's a lot that could go into that so the first thing u want to do is figure out your protagonist.
Now also u need to figure out what u mean by high school life. Because that could mean multiple things. Now if your wanting to do a mean girls like thing then cliches are kind of needed and supposed to be overdone for a comedic effect. If u want to do the struggles of highschool life than u need to figure out what makes your story different and not cliche. If its a sadder story than cliches are very bad thing to have. Also if it is extreamly sad like the movie cyber bully try to put in a comic relief. This is one thing that a lot of books and movies forget. And without a comic relief certain people in the audience can find it triggering. Now if thats what u want to do is trigger peoplle then go ahead and do so but u neeed to lighten it up every now and then
