How many valence electrons are there in Dysposium and Cerium. (Sorry if wrong section figured questions about atoms would fit with physics)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u know in which block cerium is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both I am asking about are in block F if I believe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep and there is only 1 electron in outermost electron in cerium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok and that applys to both of the elements?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u know the configuration of cesium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not 100% sure on that, if by that you mean the electron configuration I am not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Xe 4f10 6s2 this is the electronic configuration for dysposium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and Xe 4f15d1 6s2 is the electronic configuration for cesium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I am right it has two valence electrons? (Dysposium)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i guess so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thanks!
