Simply removing the problem is not enough when dealing with addiction. There needs to be management of emotions and actions. It is helpful to keep a regulated schedule as one deals with recovery just to ease them back into a normalised lifestyle. Removing negative reminders of bad situations is always a good idea. Someone who struggles with alcohol addiction, say, may turn down an invite to go to a bar even if they won't drink just because that place is a negative reminder of alcohol. Guilt should never be used as a recovery tool. It is unhealthy and often leads to relapse.
