PLEASE Can someone give me more reasons?  How will you handle the situation if you are a passenger and the driver is distracted?

First, try and remove the distractions, phone, ipod, game, radio etc.
If the driver won't pay attention to the road, try asking the driver to keep his eyes on the road, and if you're old enough, ask if you can drive instead. If the driver seems to be dizzy or just not acting normal, try contacting a family member to come pick you up. The driver could be on drugs or had a drink recently.

Make sure you pull over when there is a police officer and dont speed.
