The area of the base of a prism is 24 mm2. The perimeter of the base is 22 mm. The height of the prism is 5 mm. What is the surface area of the prism
does it say what kind of prism it is or is there a picture?
what are the options for answers?
No there is no picture with it or options for the answers.. What it says for the answer is _____ mm2
ok first, since you know the base of the prism(24 mm^2), you also know the top or side parallel to the base because it is the same measurement
i'm going to guess that this is a rectangular prism because if it was a cube, it would state cube. the formula for finding surface area of a rectangular prism is 2(w*l + h*l + h*w). we know height (h) is 5mm. two ends of the prism are usually squares. if we take the perimeter and subtract 10mm (pair of 5 mm sides), you are left with 12 mm.
12 divided by 2=6 and since two sides needs to be longer, this works
