If an asteroid hits the Earth it stops moving and has no kinetic energy. What does the Law of Conservation of Energy say has to happen to that energy?

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that that kinetic energy that the asteroid intially has will equally turn into different forms of energy, other than kinetic energy since the asteroid is no longer moving, when the asteroid hits Earth and stops moving.
