Someone help me, a bit confused fan, medal, testimony

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the first row we have 10 seats, that is modeled by f(x) = 10, where x is the row number. for each further row we must add 2 seats.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so... the firts row we have 10 + 0 second row: 10 + 2 third row: 10 + 4 ... nth row: ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I get it. the equation s(x) = 2(x - 1). really confuses me ):could you help me? @M4thM1nd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, s(x) = 2(x-1) is the number of additional seats in row x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we plug in 10 in the equation? s(x)= 2(10-1) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example, for the first row (x = 1), we have s(1) = 2*(1-1) = 0 for the second row (x = 2), s(2) = 2 the third row, s(3) = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is the total number of seats in row x? its T(x) = 10 + 2*(x - 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 10 is from the first row, got it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I get it. its just trying to put it in words that's confusing me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@M4thM1nd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can explain that in the first row you have 10 seats, then for each further row we must add 2 more seats then the previous number of seats

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is 10 + 2*(x - 1), where x = 1, 2, 3, ..., N
