two buses leave a station at the same time and travel in opposite directions. one bus travels 14 km/h faster than the other. if the buses are 504 km apart after 2 hours, what is the rate of each bus?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Let the speed of one bus be \(\mathcal x\) km/h. So the speed of other one will be \(\mathcal x+14\)km/h

Now the given condition can be depicted by the following diagram. |dw:1424578120914:dw|

Now, the question says that the two buses are 504 km apart. \(\therefore~ \mathcal 2x+2(x+14)=504\) By using the above equation can you find the speeds of the two buses?
