If the circumference of the circle above is 18.84 units, what is the area? (Use 3.14 for n .) 354.95 units2 28.26 units2 37.68 units2 9.42 units2

@k_lynn

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

From the circumference, find the radius. From the radius, find the area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK.. ;-;

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Ok, to figure this out, you need this formula. You'll also probably want to memorize it for further use. \[r=\frac{ C }{ 2\Pi }\] So what you're basically going to do is divide the circumference of the circle by Pi times 2.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

So... \[\frac{ 18.84 }{ 2\times3.14}\]

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

What do you get when you multiply 2 times pi?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 29.5788 ;-;

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Did you multiply that with pencil and paper or with a calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Calculator I am not got at doing math at all.. :( So I guess I messed up with that one...

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Ok. |dw:1424637048540:dw| Do you understand how I got that?
