they would have to work 10 hours and they would earn $220

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

Amy could work 4 hrs and earn $112 because of the bonus (18)4=72+40 (bonus= 112 Elizabeth could work 1 hr and earn $112 with the bonus. if I'm understanding the question correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they have to work the same amount of hours and earn the same amount of money @hockeychick23

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

ok i guess i read the question wrong sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's alright. lol. @hockeychick23

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the question is based around creating equations for each person Amy: Income = 18 x h + 40 Elizabeth: Income = 12 x h + 100 to find where the how many hours give equal incomes equate the equations 18h + 40 = 12h + 100 now solve for h. when you get h, the number of hours that give equal incomes you can calculate the amount each earns. Hope it makes sense
