Line GH contains points G(–2, 6) and H(5, –3). What is the slope of ? – – – –

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Alright. So first, do you know the formula for slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really this is new to me

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Alright. The formula for slope is x2-x1/y2 - y1. Ok?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Ok. So take the numbers in the coordinates (sets, whatever you want to call them) and substitute them into the formula. The first set of coordinates is the 1, and the second set is the 2. So now what would the equation look like? It's ok if you get it wrong, but take a stab at it. that's the best way to learn.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

formula is RISE/RUN m= y2-y1/x2-x1
