I'm not entirely sure but it seems to me that since the equation got shorter that the right side of the equation would be exothermic and so it wouldn't be the addition of heat because heat makes it expand and the equation did the opposite of that... does that make sense? I'm not great at chemistry so I could be completely wrong! =o

haha okay that kinda makes sense..but the equation didnt really get shorter. The s in the first equation stands for subscript. So its not actually part of the equation. But yeah i suck at chemistry too haha
