What is the nature of the gravitational forces the Earth and Sun exert on each other (the Sun is a million times the size of the Earth)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. FEarth on Sun = FSun on Earth b. FEarth on Sun = -FSun on Earth c. FEarth on Sun < FSun on Earth d. FEarth on Sun > FSun on Earth

OpenStudy (shamim):

I think u know third law of motion

OpenStudy (shamim):

Every action has an equal n oposit reaction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I think it might be either a, or b because it should be the same force, but opposite direction, so maybe b?

OpenStudy (shamim):

Ya u r 100% right

OpenStudy (shamim):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool can i ask you another question about this?

OpenStudy (shamim):

Anyway dont u think sun has more attraction force than earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (shamim):

Later u can ask

OpenStudy (shamim):

Because the mass of sun is much bigger than the mass of earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (shamim):

Dont u think the earth attract me by 200N nd i m attracting earth by only 2N.

OpenStudy (shamim):

Because the mass of earth is much more than the mass of mine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok..

OpenStudy (shamim):

And all of my examples r contradictory with newtons third law of motion. Right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah!

OpenStudy (shamim):

So who is right? Me or newton?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

newton because your force will have to be greater to compensate for the large mass.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so both objects would equal the same force

OpenStudy (shamim):

But hw m i wrong?!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inertia! It slows the object down with bigger mass

OpenStudy (shamim):

Wow.... true

OpenStudy (shamim):

Very glad to help u!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!! :)

OpenStudy (shamim):

Anyway can i ask u 1 more thing?!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (shamim):

Welcome!!"

OpenStudy (shamim):

I know If 2 equal n oposit force acts on an object then the body will b stationary or moving with uniform velocity. Right?

OpenStudy (shamim):

But when i kick a footbal?

OpenStudy (shamim):

There r 2 equal n oposit forces here

OpenStudy (shamim):

Then why the football is moving with accelerstion!

OpenStudy (shamim):

2 equal n oposit forces should b cancelled. Is not it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you move backwards with the same force, but you have more mass, so because of inertia, you move less, and you barely feel it????

OpenStudy (shamim):

Ya. Right!

OpenStudy (shamim):

Here2 different forces acting on different 2 bodies

OpenStudy (shamim):

If 2 forces acting on a same body. Then they will cancell

OpenStudy (anonymous):
