Sure
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So I was doing a problem that involves [(6.626x10^-34 J s) (3.00x10^8 m/s)]/(8.49x10^-21 J)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And I got the answer which is 2.34
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but I can't get the exponents for this problem right.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I originally got 2.34x10^-5 but it said that the exponents were wrong

Any help?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
let me try it for myself.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
If you need the actual problem I can give you that.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Sure

What is the wavelength (in nm) of radiation that has energy content of 5.11 x 10^3 kJ/mol?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
For the energy part 6.626x10^-34 why didnt you multiply it by 6.00 x 10^14?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It's how it was shown on the site I was on explaining it. I got the right answer from it.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Using your method, I got a different answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
How did you do it? Maybe I just got lucky.

Show me your math
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I took 5.11 x 10^3/ 6.022 x10^23 mol^-1
Then x = [(6.626 x10 ^-34 J s)(3.00x10^8 m/s)] / (8.49 x10^-21 J)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That gave me 2.34 x 10^-5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It only counted the 10^-5 wrong. The 2.34 was counted right.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got 2.34 x 10^21

OpenStudy (anonymous):
How did you get the 21?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that's the part where I messed up
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Was it right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I haven't checked it yet. I only have one shot left so I was wanting to understand it first.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And try to connect the dots.

Oh ok yeah, if you only have one chance then you should double check
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I used the formula you gave me, check your math again see if anything changes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got 2.34 x 10^-47 this time
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wow, three answers. Let me check again.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes i got that too

2.34 x 10-47
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you. I really don't get what I'm doing wrong. I keep getting the right answer but not the exponent part.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got the same thing now
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It's most likely right then. Thank you for the help.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Alright, tell me how it goes.
