1.Esmeralda and Heinz are working to graph a polynomial function, f(x). Esmeralda says that the third-degree polynomial has four intercepts. Heinz argues that the function only crosses the x-axis three times. Is there a way for them both to be correct?

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

unfortunately no, esmerelda is a moron a polynomial of degree n can have at MOST n zeros, so a polynomial of degree 3 can have at most 3 zeros, i.e. crosses the x axis at most 3 times
