Fan & medal!!! Just one question! :P Do you think a totalitarian form of government would have formed in Germany if the Great Depression had not occurred? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the Great Depression had not occurred, the Weimar Republic might have had time to solve the economic problems that followed World War I. 2. With increased economic stability, Germans might have had no need to look to a totalitarian leader who promised them a return to greatness. 3. Even if the Great Depression had not occurred, the German people would still be unhappy. The defeat of Germany during World War I was a blow to its national esteem. 4. One way to rebuild that esteem was to create a great nation of Germanic people, which Hitler promised to do.
