Which transformations will produce similar, but not congruent, figures?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Triangle TUV is dilated by a scale factor of 9 and then translated 2 units right and 1 unit down to form triangle TꞌꞌUꞌꞌVꞌꞌ. B. Triangle TUV is rotated 180° counterclockwise and then reflected across the x-axis to form triangle TꞌꞌUꞌꞌVꞌꞌ. C. Triangle TUV is rotated 270° clockwise and then translated 12 units down to form triangle TꞌꞌUꞌꞌVꞌꞌ. D. Triangle TUV is translated 3 units left and 4 units up and then reflected across the y-axis to form triangle TꞌꞌUꞌꞌVꞌꞌ.

oh @k_lynn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh hey*

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

yep, you got it! A is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay me! lol

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Congruent figures are the same size and the same shape. If you dilate a figure, you either make it bigger or smaller. So A. would have to be correct. Great job :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i have 4 more q's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help?

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

I can try. Just close this question, open another and tag me :)
