Is the sample representative of the population? population: toll road users sample: every 10th car passing through a toll booth A. representative B. not representative I think it's A. @Godlovesme @iGreen @gigi1103 @KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The method used is Systematic Sampling. If you look up the definition of Systematic Sampling the correct choice will be clear.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

I think this is a poorly posed question

OpenStudy (kropot72):

@Zarkon is correct. For example the sample size is not stated in the question. Therefore if only 10 cars were chosen, the sample would not be representative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kropot72 @Zarkon Thanks So Its B? DEFINITION of 'Systematic Sampling' A type of probability sampling method in which sample members from a larger population are selected according to a random starting point and a fixed, periodic interval. Makes more sense of it to be B.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

'Representative Sample': A subset of a statistical population that accurately reflects the members of the entire population. You need a lot more information to answer your question (even more than sample size)
