In the following drawing there is a wire with current following through it in the direction shown to which direction will the compass point: |dw:1424973766761:dw|
Imagine wrapping your left hand around the wire with your thumb pointing in the direction of the electron flow. Your fingers point in the direction of the magnetic field. There is a circular magnetic field around the conductor. Think about what direction your fingers point where the compass is.
|dw:1425022269452:dw| Doesn't the compass generate a magnetic field too ? so the pointer will move the area with high magnetic field to the area with low magnetic field ?
