The Golden mean (in the middle basically meaning an balance between two items or moderation between two extremes.) was created by Aristotle. Now Aristotle had his roots from Plato, and Plato Socrates, but Aristotle came up with the Golden Mean. Source(s): I'm an amateur historian.
