Cleo can carry up to 1000 bananas at a time. She need to travel to a market which is one
thousand miles away. Unfortunately, Cleo eats one banana every mile that she walks. If
she starts with three thousand bananas, what is the largest number of bananas that cleo
can get to market?

Well if Cleo goes to market 1000 miles away and can only carry 1000 bananas she will eat every banana she tries to bring to market on the first trip. On her way back she will travel another 1000 miles which will require her to eat another 1000 bananas, then she will travel 1000 miles again carrying her last 1000 bananas and eat every one of them. She will end up with zero bananas at market.
