6/35 you get that by Multiplying staright arcoss

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Multiply the numerators and the denominators: \[\large \frac{1}{5}\times\frac{6}{7}=you\ can\ calculate\]

How you do fractions is with multiplication you multiply the numerator and the denominator. Here is a problem for multiplication: 3/10x6/9=18/90 and now you have to simplify so you would see what number they both go into and that number for this problem is 9 so 18/9=2 and 90/9=10 so that would be 2/10 but you can simplify again and they both go into two so that would be 1/5. Addition you have to have the same denominators so here is an example of one with common denominators: 2/10+5/10 that would be 7/10 and you cant simplify that so it would stay as that number. Here is an example for ones that you need to change the denominator: 5/6+3/9 so you would have to see what they can go into and so they both can go into 18 and so you would have to multiply 6x3 and you would have to do that to the top one of that fraction and so that fraction would be 15/18 and the other one would be 6/18 because you multiply those by two. For subtraction it is the same thing as addition but you just subtract them. For division you have to switch the 2nd fraction around and so here is an example: 7/8/5/10 so you would have to switch 5/10 around so it would be 7/8x10/5 then you would multiply and so then you would get 70/40 and then you would have to change it to a mixed number and that would be 1 30/70 then you would simplify that and it would be 1 3/7. With mixed numbers if it is an improper fraction you would have to see how much the denominator can go into the numerator without going over and so then after that would be the whole number and then you subtract the numerator from the denominator and then you keep the denominator the same. Here are practice problems for you: Addition: 6/7+5/6= Subtraction: 2/3-6/9= Multiplication: 4/5x5/10= Division: 5/6/8/9= REMEMBER SIMPLIFY YOUR ANSWER IN LOWEST TERMS.
