fun ques

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A man walks 3 meters east then 4 meters north.He is then suddenly abducted by an alien ship from an alien ship vertically 12 meters above him when the ship levitates him up.Give the displacement vector of the man from his initial position to when he reaches the ship.Also give the magnitude of his displacement and the direction cosines of his displacement with respect to his initial point.

@ganeshie8 try this

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

heyy i replied this in math :) (3, 4, 12) is the displacement vector right ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

consequently the directions will be 3/13, 4/13, 12/13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your cosines seem fine but where's the unit vectors in your vector??(consider the i,j,k system)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 anyways nice I think that's a different notation but you mean the same, and the mag. of displacement is of course 13 units :P I thought it was a little tricky but easy ques....

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

easy if we know vectors :)
