So Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov was a Russian composer (very important to note) who was known for his intense nationalism!
This means he took elements of Russian culture and he implemented it into his music.

He was also influenced by historical happenings in Russia
and therefore, wrote some notable examples of program music.
