In the figure above, the object has been translated... 8 units to the right and 6 units down. 9 units to the left and 7 units up. 8 units to the left and 6 units up. 9 units to the right and 7 units down.

Yay Jess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Pick one point off that triangle in the first figure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hyi

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

the picture should help you.

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

i drew the original image on the left picture. Look at the orange dot. Count how many units it goes towards the left Then how many unit it goes upwards to get to the orange dot on the FINAL translated image

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6up 9 left

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

are you sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now I know the answer good hints @butterflydreamer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and I know that I can't blurt It out

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

what is 6 + 2? That will be how much it shifts to the left. Then what is 5 + 1? This is how much it will shift up

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

do you understand it or nah? LOL i can try to explain it better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nah

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

alright. ^_^ Can you see the triangle i drew? Basically we want to know how it went from the bottom right corner to the top left right? So i picked a point on the triangle which is the bottom orange dot in the corner of the triangle. So first step is that we know the ORIGINAL image was on the RIGHT and if you look at the final triangle, we can see the FINAL image is on the LEFT. So this is how we know it shifted to the left (Right -> left) So first step is to count how far to the left it went. The original dot is at 2 but the second dot is at -6. So if you go from 2 and BACKWARDS to -6 this means 2 - (-6) = 2 + 6 So 2 + 6 = ?
