OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

Steve is installing a new window. A diagram of the window is shown below. Note: Figure not drawn to scale If a = 33 in and b = 44 in, which of the following is closest to the area of the window? 1,452 in2 2,904 in2 1,879.65 in2 https://app107.studyisland.com/pics/167134q3.png

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

We need to find the area of the semicircle, which is area of circle/2

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

okay

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

I am going to bed after this question

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

k

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Find the area of the rectangle first?

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

how?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Area of rectangle = length times width

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

okay 1452

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

In other words Area of rectangle for this one is a times b

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Yes,area of this rectangle is 1452 in^2

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Now,find the area of the semi-circle.

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

#justgotlost

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

\[Area = \frac{ \pi \times r^2 }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

so the last answer choies is correct?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

r^2 = 33 times 33 pi = 22/7

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

so t=it's 1,879.65 in2

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

?

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

@Bee_see

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

HELP I GOTTA GO VERY SOON

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

area of the semicirle = 1710.6 area of rectangle = 1452 just add the two and then approx

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

what is approx?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

B

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

2,904 in2

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

that's wrong

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

it was the last one

OpenStudy (bee_see):

ok. can you redo it? I got 1879,65

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

:(

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

this sucks

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

@perl Kindly help this guy otherwise the asker will get confused for sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,879.65 in2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

radius =33/2

OpenStudy (bee_see):

If you need help getting the answer: area of rectangle= 33X44=1452. Area of circle: piXr^2= piX(16.5)^2. Divide the answer by 2 and you get 427.64. Add it with 1452. We get 1879.649= 1879.65.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of semicirle =((33/2)^2*pi)/2
