To medal you click best response on on any comment that a person who helped you most made.

its the blue button. It says best response. You can give out one medal per post.

To become a fan you click on someone's profile pic and a box will pop up. One of the options says become a fan. bottom right, blue box

Hover over, or click a person's name and you'll see a Blue button and it says become fan...click that! :) Hope That helped!

To change subjects at the top of your screen it says find more subjects. Then you choose the subject! I know you didn't ask for that but it's helpful. Post in the correct section or you get marked as spam :/

try out medaling and fanning! You can also unbecome fans lol. And u can take back medals

Yes. You can still post when a question is closed, but once you have an answer or want to make a new post, close the question
