What is the final net price of a designer swimsuit, originally priced at $85, when the Fall discounts are 25/60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Worded kind of weird but I think the question is asking the following: 85$ - (85 * (25/06)) = $49.58 (This is rounded to the nearest cent)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I flipped my 6 and 0 but the answer is still the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any questions as how I derived the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its a percent? i dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25/60 is the percentage. It equals ~41.7%. So your just finding the new price of the clothing when its 41.7% off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not one of the answers. I think is 30% but im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Humm, that is weird because the question states what is the net price, not percentage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea the answers are 85%, 15%, 30%, 5%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it says to subtrac 25% first and from that answer to subtract 30% but i got 25.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there any special meaning to 25/60? I am taking this as a fraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it mean 25% or 60% of the price of the shirt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25% of 60% of the price? IDK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30 was correct thank you for helping
