Okay, I have been noticing a lot of Users giving DIRECT answers, and when I confront them.. they say I said "I think the answer is so and so" So I decided to make a post about it. That is labeled as a direct answer. Trust me I use to be a full direct answer giver :D. So I no direct answers. Also this is a direct answer " A B C or all incorrect. That's giving them the answer. If you give direct answers you will be warned first then if you keep giving them you will get suspended... But if you don't get a warn.. Then you was already warned... So please NO GIVING DIRECT ANSWERS! Void!~

OpenStudy (logan13):

ok nice posts

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I agree!

pooja195 (pooja195):

This is a very good post however I dont find it relevent to english why not post it in OS feedback where more people can see it? :)

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

If you see someone giving direct answers, click on the "\(\bf\underline{\color{red}{Report~Abuse}}\)" button. Once that is done, a \(\bf\color{#8e39e6}{moderator}\) can resolve the issue.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yep, Abhi made it pretty clear on his os feedback post ^_^

OpenStudy (nevermind_justschool):

(Not spam, just an example of people giving direct answers.)

OpenStudy (king.void.):

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Yes, yes, since this has been brought to our attention, we should \(\large\color{green}{ALL}\) just be a bit more careful, and try to help guide users as best as we can. Remember, since \(\Large\color{lightblue}{Open}\)\(\Large\color{lightgreen}{study}\) is considered an educational site, [and not one for answers], we should attempt to keep it that way. And if users are looking for \(\large\color{purple}{answers}\), then feel free to direct them to \(\Large\color{purple}{Yahoo~Answers}\) ;P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont report them just warn them i find that unfair. Sorry its just the way of life. People are used to giving direct answers.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I agree with @_Bugsbunny_ , perhaps reporting them is a little harsh.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

1.Warn 2. If they keep doing it then report

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Yeah, that's probably more reasonable.

OpenStudy (logan13):

ya like tell them if they do it againg one more chance then report u want them if there new depending on there ss then report them

OpenStudy (inowalst):

I always just tell people to not give them out. If after they were told not to, they are rude or dont want to stop, then I call a mod or an ambassador and let them take care of it. If none are on, I report. However, I rarely report anyone.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@pooja195 The direct answers aren't in OS Feedback, they're in the helping sections, FYI.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@Whitemonsterbunny17 What happens when there is no moderator online ?

OpenStudy (inowalst):

As soon as mods come on, they see the reports and start doing what they're supposed to.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Some people say "i'm new here" But it doesn't matter, because they were supposed to click the checkbox agreeing to the CoC and TaC, just like any other user.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I do a warn + report.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

^

OpenStudy (logan13):

like i said depending on there smartscore i give them 1 more warning

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

If they claim that they were unaware of the no direct answers rule from the CoC, then I typically give them 2 chances total. If they continue to give direct answers after those two warnings, I report them. BUT if, when I warn them the first time, they decide to fight back with inappropriate or rude language, I will report them the first time. If there are no mods online at the time you feel the need to report the user, then do report them, and while waiting for a mod to come, try to EXPLAIN RESPECTFULLY why they should not give direct answers. I typically tell them something like this: "When you give an asker a direct answer, you are benefiting nobody in the long-run. This is due solely to the fact that when you do so, you are cutting the asker from learning, from gaining a greater knowledge, and by doing so, you are also lessening their chance of success in both school (including High School and College), and ultimately, a good career. Don't cut them short of these things- for it is far more rewarding for the both of you if you try and teach them, to help them acquire an understanding, a greater knowledge. So please, try to help them learn, be their mentor. I ask this of you because I care. Please and Thank You, ~Whitemonsterbunny17" Just... get them with words, if you can. I've been successful many times in doing this, and you can be, too. Notice how I tried to show that I care, and that I was asking in a respectful manner. This is a rough draft of what I typically say, but as long as you get the idea.. :p Plus, who knows, maybe you'll end up inspiring them! ^.^

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I totally agree. Also, direct answers usually end up wrong, because there's no backup to the information.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yes, that is very true.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Indeed. I'm just glad that the very fine fellows on here gave me more than one chance for the whole direct answers thing. I'll admit that it took me a while to stop doing it. (You are a victim @EclipsedStar XD)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yes, I was very...lenient. I was staring daggers at my laptop when I told you to stop but you kept on doing so. e_e

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Haha, don't worry, I think we've all done it at least once before. :p

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I could imagine. XD

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

True. I was a DA giver until I reached like 60ss. I didn't even know about that. Then I was told off by @paki and I got so mad at him .-.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well, he and I are friends now. ^_^

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

It's nice that people end up friends after disagreements. :D

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Oh, boy how I was enraged though, when we first met. I blocked him when he kept on sending me pm's about the CoC and he reported me .-. XD

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Haha yeah, I gave DA's my first day of being on here, and got warned and reported by becca. Ohhhh I was furious when she reported me, mainly b/c I had no idea that what I was doing was wrong.. that's why I tend to give newer people a few chances. :p

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Yeah. When I first got onto OS, giving out direct answers was much MUCH more acceptable than now. It was a little hard to transition, I must say.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

That's what happened to me too. Like I mentioned earlier, I was already used to giving da's after like 2 weeks of nothing happening to me. Then suddenly all these 99ss users started chastising me and I became like a tea kettle waiting to burst. :P

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ehh, I think I warned you a few times too, though. :P Don't remember ever reporting you, but yeah, I think I may have warned you a few times. xD

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I warned Doodle many times, I nearly reported once. XD

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Oyas, plus all seeing others giving DA's and me not being reported.. until a 99 er came by. xD ugh >.<

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Ah. Memories.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Not fun, a few times. I learned though. :)

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

As did I.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

And I. XD But hey, at least now we're here, and able to help people learn. ^.^

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Yes, what a journey it has been. :D

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I've warned and reported so many times I don't even know who I warned or reported. o_O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what if you know the answer but don't know how to explain it ?

OpenStudy (sierra!):

okkkkkk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should i just leave the question and leave the user struggling

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Then you help them cross the wrong answers. @Hotchellerae21

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Me and @EclipsedStar have been warned for this...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay...

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Links help.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Ya, but make sure the links don't give the direct answer!

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Any more questions?

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yeah, like Yahoo answers, answers.com, brainly (which give out direct answers all the time), etc.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^^^^those aren't allowed.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

^

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Conqueror I do a warn + report. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Give a new user a chance or two...don't just assume the user will continue giving direct answers .-.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

The mods take care of it, that's what they want us to do. report

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we should probably close this now though this is good for our debating skills
