Also, this has some ideas that are not 100% true... "Schools were designed by Horace Mann and Barnard Sears and Harper of the University of Chicago and Thorndyke of Columbia Teachers College and some other men to be instruments of the scientific management of a mass population."  While they were involved, the ideas were much older.  Also, many of those original ideas were changed.  For example, John Amos Comenius wrote, in the pre-history of schools, that organized education had to be entertaining.  That fact was very lost on people like Mann and Sears.
