Which is right? a) Time and tide waits for none. b) Time and tide wait for none. And why??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A), because Wait is for only ### ##### and B is worng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait makes no sense with that sentence XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But time and tide are two things which make it plural, so why can you use verb+s with plural in this case?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It B ur right @eta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But B is not right.. @_bugzbunny_

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is trust me i checked on all kinds of websites @eta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nuu hashtags blocked me cri

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@_bugzbunny_ , I also want that b should be the answer, but my English Teacher said that it is \(a\) which is right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He said, Time and Tide are meant for one and the same thing here, so we are treating it as singular. There are other examples also, for instance, we treat "Bread and Butter" also as Singular as they intend to show the same meaning..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im right now get over it
