Simplify. (2z^5)^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would the answer be: 2z^15 OR 6z^15

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

How did you arrive to those answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because aren't you supposed to multiply the exponents to get 15? But than im confused as to if im supposed to multiply the 2 also or leave it.

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

You need to elevate everything to the cube. So it is like 2^3 * (z^5)^3. When there are exponents, you multiply 5 times 3. But in the normal numbers (2), you elevate the number to the cube. So 8z^15

Okay got it now! Thank you so much! The cubing part is what confused me :)

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

:) You are welcome :)
