What role did the Africans play in the Triangle Trade?

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

"In the Atlantic Triangular Trade, an African slave is brought to work on a southern plantation in America. The southern plantation owner uses the slave for free labor and sells the goods to the New England merchant. "

OpenStudy (ilovewolf):

The use of African slaves was fundamental to growing cash crops, which were exported to European goods, in turn, were used to purchase African slaves, whic were then nrought on the sea lane west from Africa to the Americans, the so-called Middle Passage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangular_trade
