OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

i need an attention getter for my informative speech on cancer?

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

it has to relate to my closing sentence also ( which i don't have ).

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Well, you can always begin with an interesting fact, or quote.

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

@neonumbrella5115 like what? because on my first point i am talking about what cancer is, so i can't really begin with a quote that defines it. /:

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Oh... You can use a surprising fact like how many people die of cancer every year. That would grab people's attention.

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

@neonumbrella5115 maybe like, "Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, with a total of 585,720 deaths in the last year, meaning about 1,604 deaths per day."

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

Then maybe even add a question like, "is it possible to make a difference in the number of deaths due to this disease?" ugh i don't know :(

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Actually, this is really good! I want to know the rest of your speech now! You might also want to say where you got your information, because it makes you sound more educated. According to the ____________, statistic/fact/information.

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

so, "according to the american cancer society, ..... " ? :)

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Yup! It sounds a lot more professional. And it tells the audience that you didn't make up the statistic! :) If you need anymore help, tag me! :) :)

OpenStudy (sdlrxo):

Thank you! :)
