OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which sex is more likely to have a recessive, sex-linked trait ?

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Females, because when their mother is unreasonable, they usually become unreasonable too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, in humans females are XX and males are XY. If you have a recessive gene on the X chromosome, which is more likely to have that trait expressed? Go look up color blindness.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is recessive gene?

OpenStudy (mohamad2):

Males, because sex linked genes are, for most of them on X chromosom, Man has on X chromosom, so all his recessive genes can be expressed ( He has one copy for most of those X genes)

OpenStudy (mohamad2):

A recessive gene is a gene that can be expressd only if there's two copies in a cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Females

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mohamad2 No, a recessive gene is expressed only if the dominant allele is not present. This is why human males have a higher rate of recessive color blindness than females. We only have one X chromosome and if the recessive gene is on it we will be color blind. However, for women, since they have two X chromosomes the need the recessive allele on both X chromosomes.
