Help on Protists?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I have this assignment for school where I have to choose a protist and give info on it. Can anyone help please??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Whitemonsterbunny17

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Do you know what a protist is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diverse group of eukaryotic microorganisms, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would be an example of a protist, @Whitemonsterbunny17 ?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I have no idea.. I learned that stuff last year and forgot it.. X'D Google it c; After you know what it is, then I can help you with the project.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if I show you the directions it's giving me could you help me better then?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

OOOH!!! I did this project last year!!! :D Do you have to make a powerpoint??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I gotta fill out this chart, can you guide me through it?? :)

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yea, you gotta pick one first though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would be a good one to pick?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I dunno, I'd need some examples.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I found this "Protists are eukaryotic organisms that cannot be classified as a plant, animal or fungus. They are mostly unicellular, but some, like algae, are multicellular. Kelp, or 'seaweed' is a large multicellular protist that provides food, shelter and oxygen for numerous underwater ecosystems."

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Look under the "images" part. Then it should give you images of plants and animals.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Animals will be easier for this project.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, what should I choose?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

>.\ Lemme look it up and find some examples of animals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, cause I cant find any examples through google :/ thank you so much for your help I need this in by tonight

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Oh. Protists are things like algae and fungi. o-o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so let's just pick one and find it's scientific name first

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Alright. Algae is probably easiest, but if you don't like that you can choose something else. xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Protista examples: http://classificationofthekingdoms.weebly.com/protista-examples.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's go with that haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you do for this project?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Uhhh.. Okay, so what did we choose? Algae? o-o

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Possibly.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I say that whichever has more information when you search it, would be the easier one.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I can't predict what Google will have, though. xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We need information to fill this chart so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's just go with algae

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what do we start off with? It's "scientific" name?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay sweet, and next is the Phylum of the protist

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

XD I'll let you guys have at it. c; Good luck! ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my computer restarted randomly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaha I hear you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next is the common ecosystem of the protist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! (Describe the shape of your protist.) (How does your protist move?) (How does your protist obtain food?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like half way done already haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha alrighty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeahhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at the shape of the last pic here http://classificationofthekingdoms.weebly.com/protista-examples.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i suppose

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty, got those down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now just how does it obtain food :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol jinx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yessssss get me a coke haha, pepsi acutally

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay just two more questionsssss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3 Contributions your protist provides to the environment or to other organisms) 1 (contribution #1) 2 (contribution #2) 3 (contribution #3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waste wasters?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what do i put in place of waste wasters?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okayyyyy last one :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(identify 3 organisms that belong in the same phylum as your protist) 1 (organism #1 – Where can they be found?) 2 (organisms #2 – Where can they be found?) 3 (organism #3 – Where can they be found?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright great! Thanks soooo much for your help!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one last thing, could you delete your replies so i dont get in trouble or anything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ones with the answers haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a ton haha :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youre the best haha! im going to bed now but if you ever need anything tag me :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For sure, same goes on my end. Best luck to you bud.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

Have you seen any protist under a microscope or at least their pictures and descriptions? I will be willing to provide you my insights, and even share my notes on them. I made a presentation in my school on protists, particularly on several species that have a lot of potential benefits.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have yes, back in 9th grade.
