In many states there are big legal differences in how the state government looks at “cities,” “towns,” “villages,” and “hamlets.” In Georgia law, however, there is no difference between these groups. There are 535 cities and towns in Georgia. Each has a charter that says it is a “municipal” body. Municipal bodies have local governments that control local issues.
