The Speaker of the House. If the Speaker is unable to be President, then the President Pro Tempore of the Senate becomes President of the United States. If the that person is unable to be President, then it keeps getting passed down the order of succession as follows: Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Labor, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of Energy, Secretary of Education, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and finally the Secretary of Homeland Security. In order for one of the individuals to succeed the President, they must be a 35 year old natural born US Citizen and have lived within the United States for at least 14 years.
