Question

I am writing a short story for creative writing. I just need some help?
So, I am writing this short story. It is about a woman that travels and finds a barren wasteland as her destination. She sees only one other person and that other person is the cause for this barren wasteland. I need help deciding what made the main character want to or have to leave to this place. I also need help deciding on a fictional name for this place the main character has come to. Thanks a lot!

So, I just started it @Sgt_Sauris. But, no, they will not work together. They are completely opposite. The main character knew nothing about it being the way the land is. The other person is the cause of whatever catastrophe happened. I need help with a name of the wasteland and a reason why she might have been going there.

I think a good reason she could have gone there is because the man that caused the catastrophe has set up false advertisement for a amazing vacation spot when really he was killing/eating the people that came... A good name for the wasteland might be The Pretty Prairie due to the fact that the man is making it seem really nice there. I hope this helps... Here's my input. For the main character, I'll name her Austyn or Alex (short for Alexandra) because it sounds like she'll face a great adventure. For the man in the wasteland, I'll assume that he's an mad chemist. Due to his different experiments, the place where they are now is affected. I'll name him: Sinister Snadien Stein xD

I'm imagining that the woman was trying to practice flying an helicopter that she's not supposed to use because the plane is not in a good condition.However, she still used it because she had an argument with his father, who was great pilot.

At the end you can add some twist. Like there will be a family connection between the mad chemist and the woman's father :D
