OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

If the cube has a side length of 4 centimeters, what is the surface area of the cube? 96 cm 2 24 cm2 16 cm2 https://app107.studyisland.com/pics/bluecube.PNG

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

\(SA_{Cube} = 6a^2\) Where 'a' is the side length. Plug in what we know: \(SA_{Cube} = 6(4)^2\) Simplify that

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

text please? looks more clear with text

OpenStudy (igreen):

6(4)^2 First simplify 4^2, then multiply it by 6.

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

96

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

For the surface area of a cube, just treat it like a square. Find the area of one square on the cube with is a^2 and multiply by 6 for all of the squares, and you have the surface area.

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

And yes, 96. :)

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

thanks i passed!!

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

Woohoo. :P

OpenStudy (igreen):

Correct. 4^2 = 16 16 * 6 = 96
